Rick and Delphine Santiago met on their first day of chiropractor school. By the time they had finished their program, they were married, and looking forward to a life and a business together. After graduating, the newly married couple moved to Ohio, rented a building, and opened a chiropractic office together. It didn’t begin well. “We had savings to float us for about five or six months,” said Rick, “but they were dwindling fast. We couldn’t get people to stop in, and nobody really seemed to know about the benefits of chiropractors.”
The two tried a number of different marketing systems, from billboards to flyers to email newsletters, but nothing seemed to help. “Part of the problem,” said Delphine, “was that people assumed our email newsletters were spam, since they came from our personal email accounts.” It was then that they came up with the idea to start a website for their clinic. “It was Delphine’s idea,” laughed Rick. “She’s the smart one.” They thought that having a website would give them something for the marketing systems to market. They envisioned a sleek, professional looking site with graphics, pictures of their clinic, and pages to educate potential clients on what they could offer. “Most importantly,” said Delphine, “I wanted professional looking email systems so that people wouldn’t think our email marketing was spam.”
At first, they tried to build their own website with the help of a programmer friend. “It was about as good as we could do,” said Rick, “but it still didn’t look quite professional enough, and the email systems were still run through mass market free services.” Finally, one of their former professors, after seeing their website, called and suggested that they look into outsourcing their website to a white label company. Essentially, an outside company would build and maintain their website for a fee. The result was remarkable.
“We were floored when we saw the quality of our new site,” said Rick. “If we took a decade to work on the site ourselves, we never would have come close to that.” The white label company met with the couple and listened to what they wanted for their site. The final product included a sleek, professional home page, detailed, photo populated pages showing different services and their benefits and, the highlight for Delphine, a white label email system that allowed them to have a professional question and answer page.
“We couldn’t be happier,” said Delphine. “Our business has done so much better as a result. We’ve even used the same company to rework our marketing systems.” The couple combined their skill and enthusiasm for chiropractic service with an outside company that gave them a professional looking web presence, resulting in success.
